HMD Global has launched the entry-level Nokia C100 and Nokia C200 4G smartphones in the U.S. Both phones are exclusively available via Walmart.
The Nokia C100 and Nokia C200 are now available for purchase in the United States a few months after being announced at CES 2022. HMD Global has not launched a flagship phone in three years and it intends to keep it that way. A statement released in March by the company’s head of product marketing said the brand will continue to focus on entry-level and mid-range smartphones for the foreseeable future.
This strategy has paid off as HMD Global has recorded significant growth since it turned its focus on budget smartphones and feature phones. The Finnish company has also cut out elaborate launch events from its business, with only pre-recorded video launches, blog posts, and social media announcements for new products.
The Nokia C100 and Nokia C200 are entry-level smartphones and it shows not only in their specifications but also in their build. While the Nokia C100 has huge bezels at the top and bottom of the screen, the Nokia C200 has a prominent chin. Both phones sport a polycarbonate back with a textured pattern that should provide a firm grip. Surprisingly, even though the back panel of the Nokia C100 is removable, it still has IP52 dust- and water resistance like the Nokia C200. Both phones are available in just one colorway each – Meteor (gray) for the Nokia C200 and Blue for the Nokia C100.
Cheap 4G Phones With Android 12
Those who want a small phone will prefer the Nokia C100 as it has a compact 5.45-inch screen. The 18:9 display has HD+ resolution and is protected by toughened glass. Sitting above the display is a 5MP camera alongside a small slit for the earpiece. On the other hand, the Nokia C200 has a bigger 6.08-inch HD+ display with a U-shaped notch for an 8MP camera. It also has 2.5D toughened glass for protection. Both phones are powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for adding up to 256GB of additional storage.
The Nokia C100 has an 8MP sensor at the back while the C200 gets a sharper 13MP sensor. Neither phone has a fingerprint scanner but there is face unlock. They also have an audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, a single SIM card slot, and a USB-C port. There’s no mention of their battery capacity, but their product pages claim that the Nokia C100 will provide “all-day battery life” while the Nokia C200 has “2-day battery.” Unfortunately, the Nokia C100 supports just 5W charging while the Nokia C200 gets standard 10W charging. The good news is that a charger is included in the box of both phones.
HMD Global ships both phones with Android 12, unlike the OnePlus Nord N20 5G which ships with Android 11. There is no mention of how many OS upgrades they will get but at the minimum, they should get the Android 13 update. The two phones are already available for purchase exclusively via Walmart. Those who settle for the Nokia C100 will have to shell out $39.88 with the option to choose from Tracfone, Simple Mobile, Straight Talk, and Total Wireless. On the other hand, the Nokia C200 is priced at $69 and is only available on Straight Talk.
