Spotify’s new ‘Supergrouper’ feature allows users to create their own supergroup with their favorite artists and get a shareable custom card.
Spotify has launched a new feature called ‘Supergrouper’ that allows users to create their own supergroup with their favorite artists. It’s a fun feature to have on the app and one that allows users to conjure up all kinds of fantasy bands. For instance, what if Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Nicky Minaj were in the same band? Or what if Bob Dylan jammed with Jimmy Hendrix? Spotify’s new feature lets users indulge in just that type of fantasy.
Spotify is the world’s largest music streaming platform, with more users than Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, and Tidal. The company claims to have 422 million users globally, including 182 million paying subscribers, up from 158 million in 2021. The platform offers a vast catalog of music and podcasts, including 82 million audio tracks and more than four million podcast titles. Spotify’s popularity has also prompted the creation of programs that allow users to gain an insight into their music listening habits. One such new addition is Spotify Pie which lets users view their most-played genres on the platform.
It is easy to create a fantasy super group using Spotify Supergrouper. To get started, first ensure that the Spotify app is up to date. Then launch it and tap on the Supergrouper banner on the homepage or open the Supergrouper website. Users will now be asked to choose how many artists they want in their band. They will need to choose at least three, but the total number of artists can go up to five. Next, users will have to pick their favorite artists for up to five different categories, including The Up-And-Comer, The Producer, The Lyricist, The Wildcard, and The Lead.
Creating A Spotify Supergroup
Spotify can also randomize artists into various slots if that’s what a user wants. It’s not immediately clear how Spotify picks the artists to create a supergroup, but it seemingly chooses them based on a user’s listening habits. Finally, users can give their newly-created group a name, but this is an optional step. Irrespective of how the group is created, once it’s done, Spotify generates a combined playlist of those artists’ songs and saves it in the user’s library. Users can tap on ‘My Supergroup Mix‘ to listen to Spotify’s auto-generated playlist.
Spotify Supergrouper has largely received a positive response from social media users, who have been sharing the custom card created for their supergroup on platforms like Twitter. Others are making multiple super groups to have one for every mood. Overall, this is a fun little feature that every Spotify user should try just for fun. Of course, not all fantasies come true, and most people may never get to hear their favorite artists jam together. But thanks to the new Spotify feature, one can always dream!
