The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has appeared in live photos that offer the best look at the upcoming foldable device and minor design changes users can expect.
Samsung is readying the Galaxy Z Flip 4 for launch soon and a new leak has provided the best look so far at the upcoming foldable smartphone. Samsung is the leader in the foldable smartphone market space but it now has an increasing number of competitors. The Vivo X Fold is a prime example, giving the Galaxy Z Fold 3 a run for its money in markets like China.
However, Samsung has an advantage thanks to the wide availability of its products. Most of its competitors are Chinese brands whose foldable offerings are sold only in China or at best, in a handful of countries. Huawei sells its foldable smartphones in some parts of Europe but not in the U.S. Until the availability of these phones changes, Samsung’s reign in this segment will continue.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has shown up in live photos posted on Twitter by tipster Mr_TechTalkTV, but the tweet has now been taken down over a copyright claim, presumably by Samsung itself. From the images, there doesn’t seem to be much that differentiates it from the Galaxy Flip 3. The phone still has two vertically stacked rear cameras and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, when closed shut, there is still a noticeable gap. However, upon second look, one would notice there are some refinements to the design. The frame next to the hinge is thinner, and the cover display is reportedly bigger too, though just by a small margin.
Minor Changes Over The Galaxy Flip 3
In addition to the images, the source also revealed more details about the phone in a YouTube video, which has since been taken down as well. The changes are not only on the outside but also on the inside. For starters, while the phone’s main display still has a centered punch-hole camera, Samsung has reduced the size of the bezels around the screen. The refined hinge system also translates to a much less noticeable crease on the screen compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Another big update is the battery capacity which has been increased from 3,300mAh to 3,700mAh. Paired with the more efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the battery life is said to be much better. The icing on the cake is a boost to the charging speed. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 will support 25W fast charging, an increase from the 15W of its predecessor. Despite these battery-related upgrades, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 still trails behind the Huawei P50 Pocket which has a 4,000mAh battery and supports 40W fast charging.

There are also some features that have not changed. The rear cameras are still dual 12MP sensors, and according to the source, offer similar camera performance to the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The front-facing camera also remains unchanged at 10MP. Clearly, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a refinement over its predecessor. And while owners of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 might not be tempted to upgrade, the new additions may be able to convince folks still sitting on the fence about foldables to pick up the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
